Springfield Armory produced 36,523 rifles in 1889. The Model 1884, which was the second model of the .45-70 trapdoor service rifles, was manufactured at Springfield Armory from 1886-1890. The Barrel on this Rifle is in mint condition. The barrel is 32.60” long with a 0.730” barrel diameter at the muzzle.

Tom- Lefever Arms Company was the name used by that firm circa 1879-1902. About 1915 they were bought out by Ithaca. We know your gun was made after 1882 (due to the patent dates). You didn't say if it was a hammer gun or hammerless, and if the barrels were damascus or steel. Production seems to have overlapped on those features.
