- Company Profile. The roots of Chester Hoist date back to the 1920's when Mr. Hal Wright Sr. developed the Wright Hoist in Lisbon, Ohio. The Wright Hoist Company was sold in 1928 and later moved to York, Pennsylvania. In 1942, Mr. Hal Wright Jr. followed his father into the hoist business and started the Chester Manufacturing Company.
