Cemeteries. May 20, 2020 ·. The first Memorial Day Service at the Evergreen Washelli Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery was held 93 years ago today, on May 30, 1927. At noon, a moment of silence was followed by a twenty-one-gun salute by the Battery I, 146th Field Artillery. The first headstone was placed during this service.
