- Barr set up his ranch headquarters at the beautiful Renderbrook spring which is in Mitchell county. This spring was named after a Captain Renderbrook, a United States Army officer stationed at Fort Concho, Texas. Captain Renderbrook was killed near the spring by Indians. The Barr ranch soon became known as the "Ren derbrook Ranch."
