Shaver Lake was constructed by the Pacific Light and Power Corporation, later named Southern California Edison in 1927. Shaver Lake is part of the Big Creek Hydroelectric project which includes a system of lakes, tunnels, steel penstocks and power houses that convert water into electricity.

The steering was a bit tough but overall it ran flawlessly the entire week. Head south toward Fresno. Then take Freeway 41 toward Yosemite, then 180 east and then 168 east. Continue on 168, also known as Tollhouse Road once you get to the mountains. If you are coming from the Central Coast via Highway 41, look for the Hwy 180 East exit. Next take the Hwy 180 East exit (the Kings Canyon exit).
