“S J,” as it’s known in Sitka, began as a Presbyterian mission for Native children in 1878. The school moved to this site in 1884, and the current campus, with its formal layout of five central buildings around a grassy quadrangle, was built in 1910-11.

The Sitka Fine Arts Camp was founded in 1973 to provide isolated Alaskan communities with little or no youth arts programs exposure and training in the arts. Because of remoteness and low population density, Alaska youth are at a severe disadvantage in access to high quality arts.

Since 1973, Sitka Fine Arts Camp has provided Alaskan youth with the opportunity to develop artistic interests and skills in an intensive artistic experience. We look forward to camp 2021 after cancelling camp 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our camp is an international program, previously serving students from 43 Alaskan communities, 29 states, and five countries.

The Sitka Performing Arts Center is a beautiful, state-of-the-art 600 seat proscenium theater. In addition, the Sitka Fine Arts Camp owns the Odess theater, a versatile 300 seat theater that can be used for everything from rock bands to dinner theater. As a courtesy the the public we have provided a calendar of all shows at both venues as well as events happening on our campus.

Jul 11, 2021 · High School Final Performances are Thursday 7/8, Friday 7/9, and Saturday 7/10 at 7pm at the Sitka Performing Arts Center. Afternoon performances and the art show are Saturday 7/10 from 1-4pm on the Sitka Fine Arts Campus. There is a $5 suggested donation at the door.
