On 1 March 1984 the Saskatchewan Militia District Headquarters Historical Collection was created under the command of GJR Bellavance, CD, the District Commander with Maj C Keith Inches as Curator. On 7 May 1992 the Collection was designated an accredited Department of National Defence museum with our current title, Saskatchewan Military Museum.
